Privacy Policy

Who we are

This website, https://bracknellscrapcars.co.uk/, is run by Bracknell Scrap Cars, Unit 13, Scott’s Farm, Amen Corner, Binfield, Bracknell RG12 8TD. We are responsible for the personal information you give us through this website. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, call us on 07818 153003 or use the form on our contact page.

What we collect and why

Valuation and callback requests. When you fill in one of our forms we collect your name, email address, phone number, vehicle registration, mileage, service history, condition and whether the vehicle has mechanical issues. We use this to value your vehicle, contact you about our offer and, if you accept, arrange collection and complete the paperwork. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract with you.

Website statistics. We use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are viewed and how people found us. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device, browser and the pages you visit. We only turn it on if you click “Accept settings” in our cookie banner, and our lawful basis is your consent.

Advertising. We advertise with Google Ads. If you accept cookies, Google sets cookies that let us see which of our adverts led to an enquiry, a phone call or a WhatsApp message, and that may be used to show our adverts to people who have visited our site. We do not send Google your name, email address, phone number or vehicle details. Our lawful basis is your consent. You can opt out of personalised Google adverts at adssettings.google.com.

WhatsApp. If you use the WhatsApp button, you leave our site and continue the conversation in WhatsApp, which is run by Meta. Any messages you send us there are covered by WhatsApp’s privacy policy as well as this one.

Phone calls. If you call us, we use the details you give us in the same way as a form request.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies:

  • Cookie settings (aviaCookieConsent, aviaPrivacyRefuseCookiesHideBar, aviaPrivacyEssentialCookiesEnabled and similar): remember your choices in our cookie banner. They last up to one year.
  • Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*): distinguish visitors so we can count visits. Only set if you accept cookies. They last up to two years.
  • Google Ads (_gcl_au and similar): link a visit to the advert that brought you here, so we can measure our adverts. Only set if you accept cookies. They last up to 90 days.

You can change your choices at any time using the Settings button in the cookie banner, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Netlify, which hosts this website and receives and stores form submissions for us;
  • Google, which provides Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Ads;
  • the DVLA and any other body we are legally required to inform when a vehicle is scrapped or sold to us.

Netlify and Google may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they use safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK-US data bridge.

How long we keep your data

If you ask for a valuation but don’t sell your vehicle to us, we keep your details for up to 12 months so we can answer follow-up questions, then delete them. If you sell us a vehicle, we keep the records of the sale for as long as the law requires (for example, scrap metal dealers must keep records of vehicles they receive for at least three years). Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it or delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to ask us to transfer it to someone else. To make a request, contact us using the details above. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page. Last updated: 10 October 2026.
